Our group posed a
challenge to Alter Ego. We'd planned a big fundraiser. COULD
this hip and heavy wonder band plug themselves into the
out-of-doors AND a mid-century vintage theme? AND,
after an evening of auctions, raffles, dinner and speeches, with appetities
and pocketbooks spent, could the band get our (presumably) warm-weather
guests to WANT to hit the gas pedal on the dance floor? The
answer wasn't "geee, we'll try...". It was "Hey, no
problem!"
The event was The Best of
Times Gala 2003, held May 3rd under-tent at Edison & Ford
Winter Estates. Our 150 supporters of the Lee County Medical Society
Alliance Foundation gathered in semi-formal fashion to enjoy 1940's
cocktails and homecooked meat & potatoes (actually superb
tenderloin, gourmet mashed potatoes served up in martini glasses, and
a bunch of other fixin's). Anyway, you get the picture.
As for Alter Ego Challenge -
they were victorious! After spinning some low-key tone-setting
crooner discs during cocktails and dinner, they filled the night with high-volume
and energy. We boogied and bumped, and even danced a little
cheek-to-cheek under the the twirling mirror ball. Cool-down was
required. So, carriages took guests downtown for complimenary nightcaps. And
WE were victorious in our fundraising, too!
If ever you want to please a
crowd, be sure the food and the band are FANtastic. Everything else is
just icing on the cake! Thanks, Alter Ego!

I just wanted to thank all of you for your
participation in last night's block party. Once again, you guys were one
of the major hits of the evening. I look forward to having you back year

Thank you so much for your support of the
Venetian charity Ball 2003! Your (participation) helped make our Ball a
magical evening for some 400 attendees and raise over $50,000 to further our
mission of assisting those with the greatest needs in our community.
In achieving national
accreditation this year, we have further established our commiment ot provide a
continuum of car that meets and /or exceeds national standards. The need
is great, but so is our energy and that of the many volunteers who make this
comprehensive service delivery possible. Every day over 600 people are
helped.
We look forward to continuing
to keep you updated on our activities and hope you will join us again next year,
as we celebrate our opportunities to help others. Please let us know if we
can be of assistance to you in the future.
On behalf of all of us at
Catholic Charities in Lee and Hendry/Glades counties, thank you again.
God bless,

PS. The music was quite
the highlight of the evening and the source of many compliments!
One of our fans even wrote us a poem!
Check it out.....
